The ADC/NAC Agreement is a comprehensive contract and set of standard terms and conditions, supported by the Canadian Status of the Artist Act, and developed collectively with the National Arts Centre, for us on projects which are not part of the English Language Theatre department (which is a member of PACT), or the French Language Theatre department (which is represented by APASQ). The contract clearly sets out base fees to be used as a starting point for negotiation; the parameters for royalties; provides details of the production schedule and budget; makes provision for a residency period, accommodation, and travel expenses; clearly states the responsibilities of both the designer and producer; and upholds the designers’ intellectual property rights. Each design discipline includes a separate Schedule to outline the necessary details regarding budget, crew, and gear.

The ADC/NAC Agreement also includes specific provisions for the engagement of design assistants, and a Design Assistant contract.

The ADC/PACT Agreement must be used by all designers engaged by the NAC, except for programming by the French Theatre Department (represented by APASQ) and the English Theatre departments (which is a PACT member). Non-ADC members are subject to a permit fee (which is ordinarily paid by the NAC).
