Wladimiro Woyno Rodriguez is a live performance designer and technologist with unique interdisciplinary, international, academic and practical expertise in contemporary set, lighting, and projection design and technology; show control systems; video content production; programming; real-time rendering workflows; documentation systems and rapid prototyping tools. With of field experience in live performance spanning contemporary theatre, opera, dance, concerts, time-based installations and large-scale corporate events, his work explores and contributes performance design that engages the sensory imagination.
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Wladimiro holds an MFA in Design from Yale School of Drama and a BFA in Theatre Design and Production from The University of British Columbia, with further professional training in lighting, stage, and scenic carpentry at The Banff Centre. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University's School for the Contemporary Arts.
Wladimiro has contributed to over 100 productions and projects, and his work has been performed across Canada at the National Arts Centre (Ottawa), Alberta Theatre Projects(Calgary), Vancouver Playhouse (Vancouver), L’Agora de la Danse (Montreal) and Persephone Theatre (Saskatoon), and internationally at Yale Repertory Theatre (New Haven, Connecticut), St. Anne’s Warehouse (Brooklyn, NY), the Performing Garage (New York), REDCAT (Los Angeles, CA), Teatro Bradesco (São Paulo, Brazil), Schaubühne (Berlin, Germany), Lucent Danstheater (Den Hague, The Netherlands), Centre Pompidou (Paris, France), The Barbican Theatre (London, UK), and Kanagawa Arts Theatre (Yokohama, Japan).
