Linda Leon
Biography 2024
Visual artist and theatre artist, Linda Leon, has lived in Whitehorse for fifteen years. She finds inspiration in the natural world. She usually works in two dimensions using oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and charcoal drawings. Currently she has been exploring the cosmos. When provoked, she indulges in satire.
Linda brings an unusual sensibility to her work. Whether this is a result of her misadventures in live theatre or whether she is just naturally attracted to the dramatic, is still under debate. She often comments that she is only trying to find her light.
A graduate from University of Manitoba, School of Fine Art, Linda Leon maintained an art practice in spite of a busy thirty-five-year career as stage designer and scenic artist throughout Western Canada. Her art has been shown at Northern Front Gallery, Art House in Carcross, Arts Underground and Yukon Artists at Work Gallery where she is a member. Linda is also a Jessie Richardson, award-winning stage designer and a member of Associated Designers of Canada.
