Sam Ferguson is an accomplished Composer and Sound Designer, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University. His journey in sound and music began at 17 when he moved to Vancouver to study under the acclaimed electroacoustic music composer Barry Truax. This pivotal experience at the World Soundscape Studio on Burnaby Mountain ignited Sam's passion for the art and science of sound. He further honed his skills by pursuing graduate studies in Sound Design at the Yale School of Drama, now the David Geffen School of Drama.
Returning to Toronto, Sam embarked on a successful career, collaborating with a diverse array of artists and organizations, including theatres, filmmakers, and musicians across Canada, from Vancouver to Montreal. His work, is characterized by a unique approach grounded in acoustic ecology. Sam's dedication to crafting immersive soundscapes and compelling music tracks for theatrical productions and films demonstrates his commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound design. His deep appreciation for sound's power in shaping emotional experiences and enhancing storytelling has established him as a distinguished figure in the performing arts industry.
